The states that get designed last and seen most. All four themes apply here too.
The common state at launch, because nothing on this site is seeded. It names what will be here and why it is not — never a skeleton, which would imply loading.
Essays will appear here as they are written.
Nothing is scheduled behind this page.
Three rules at the measure. A skeleton that mimics the layout promises a layout, and the reader sees a flicker when the real page arrives different.
Says what failed, that it was not the reader’s doing, and offers a retry that genuinely retries. The reference is the only handle connecting what they saw to what the server logged.
This page failed to load. It is not something you did, and nothing you had entered elsewhere on the site has been lost.
A dialog and a sheet are one element with two geometries — narrow the window below 52rem and the sheet takes the bottom edge. A toast reports what already happened and never asks a question, because a question that disappears is a question nobody answered.
